Nearly Two In Three HB Voters Want To See The Poseidon Resources Desalination Facility Built

Huntington Beach, CA – A scientific public opinion research survey of Huntington Beach voters determined that nearly two out of three (65%) respondents said that they HB voters support desal.  About two-thirds of those supporters (43.2% overall) said they STRONGLY support the construction of this new water reliability project.  Only about one in four (25.2%) oppose this desalination project.
“Despite the long regulatory process we’ve endured, it is heartening to see that the community continues to recognize the need for this new water reliability project that will provide high quality drinking water direct to their taps,” said Scott Maloni, Vice President of Poseidon Resources.  “The support for desalination remains as strong as ever and we look forward to bringing water, jobs and tax revenue to the City of Huntington Beach soon.”

With the election looming, the survey also asked if voters would be more or less likely to vote for a Huntington Beach City Council candidate who supports the desalination project.  A majority of voters (52.9%) said they’d be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports the desalination project.  Just one out of four (the same number who oppose the project overall) would oppose a candidate who supports the desalination project and 21.9% say a candidate’s position on desalination makes no difference or they are unsure if it would make a difference at this time.
