![]() Eighty-one percent also express concern about water shortages in Southern California, with more than two in five noting they would consider moving out of Orange County if the issue continued to persist HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – April 30, 2019 – Poseidon Water today released the findings of “Assessing Perceptions and Impact of Water Supply Resources,” a survey examining 1,000 registered Orange County voters’ perceptions and attitudes about water supply, conducted by Wakefield Research. The survey found that the vast majority of Orange County voters (81%) are concerned about water shortages in Southern California and more than half (51%) say they would consider moving if the issue continues to persist. In fact, when asked what comes to mind as the most important issue for Orange County, water shortages were second only to homelessness.

Orange County Water District Approves Water Purchase Agreement Term Sheet with Poseidon Water7/19/2018 Tonight the Orange County Water District (“OCWD”) Board of Directors voted to approve an amendment to the 2015 water purchase agreement term sheet with Poseidon Water for the purchase of 56,000-acre feet per year of drinking water from the proposed Huntington Beach Desalination Project (“Project”). “This is a great step forward for the ratepayers,” said Orange County Taxpayers Association President and CEO Carolyn Cavecche. “The new agreement further shifts financial risk and responsibility to the private sector, protecting ratepayers and keeping Orange County on track for water independence.”
Majority of California State Legislature want to bring an end to project’s 16-year permitting process
Sacramento, CA – Today, Poseidon Water announced overwhelming support from sixty-five California state legislators, including Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, Senate President pro Tem Kevin de Leon and Pro Tem – designee Toni Atkins, in support of the proposed Huntington Beach Desalination Project. Poseidon Water today announced a collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) to support the development of new water technologies to lower the energy requirements, environmental impacts, and costs of water treatment. Poseidon has offered to share access and operating data from the Carlsbad and proposed Huntington Beach desalination facilities to allow for the development and testing of new water technologies.
Determination marks important milestone in the final phase of project permitting
Huntington Beach, CA – Today, Poseidon Water announced that the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board (“Regional Board”) has deemed complete the Huntington Beach Desalination Project (“Project”) application to amend and renew its existing ocean discharge permit and for a determination that the proposed Project complies with the California’s new, stringent seawater desalination regulations. |
