Poseidon Resources (Surfside) LLC, developer and owner of the Huntington Beach Seawater Desalination Project (“Project”), today announced it is seeking qualified firms and/or teams to serve as the Owner’s Engineer for the Project. The 50 million-gallon-per-day Project is proposed to be built on approximately twelve acres located adjacent to the AES Corporation’s (AES) Huntington Beach Generating Station (“HBGS”). The Project is in the final phase of the permitting process and has secured local and state permits and approvals including a certified California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) report and an approved National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (“NPDES”) Permit (Order No. R8-2012-0007; NPDES CA8000403). Poseidon has applied for a Coastal Development Permit (“CDP”) from the California Coastal Commission and expects the Commission to consider approval of the permit later this year. Approval of the CDP is the final permit necessary to commence Project construction, anticipated for second half 2013.
